LONDON: A world-renowned insurance company has shared with its clients an interesting anecdote about one of the strangest insurance claims it has ever done.

 Here is a thought-provoking anecdote.

Can this really happen?  According to

The Mirror, the British insurance company told  the bizarre story after 325 years of activity.

The strangest of all is about  champagne corks.

 circa 1878.

A man working in a hotel in London is corked from a bottle of  champagne and is injured.

While opening a bottle of champagne, his cork hit his eye.

Insurance company paid this person  £25 10s (roughly Rs 2550), which equates to about two and a half months' salary.

The second case occurred in 1960, when a showroom owner made an insurance claim after a sheep broke a showroom window.

Again in this case, the company presented the insurance money to the customer. Company

  shared another interesting anecdote.

The dentist treated the  patient with anesthesia.

Meanwhile, the patient regained his consciousness and, after arguing with the dentist, threw him out  the window.

And in this case, the company sued the dentist. The

company reported paying over $11 billion in claims over its 325-year business period.
